







Explore Eastern Taiwan on a cyclist’s dream adventure! This 9-day, 500 km (310 mi) journey features daily rides of 50 to 80 km, combining scenic coastal routes with challenging climbs through the Coastal Mountain Range. Some days will include ascents of up to 1,000 meters, offering a thrilling challenge for experienced cyclists. While traffic is generally light, be prepared for occasional busier areas. During the summer months (May to September), high temperatures and humidity can add an extra layer of difficulty, but rest assured, our support vehicle will be close by to assist you whenever needed.
Accommodations range from luxurious resorts to cozy, modern bed-and-breakfasts, ensuring you enjoy comfort and relaxation after each day of cycling and sightseeing.
For added convenience, pedal-assist E-bikes are available for an extra fee.

We’ll meet in the afternoon at Hualien Train Station, where we will help you check in to your accommodations. Soon after we will go to an official GIANT bike shop where we will get you fitted for your bicycle or E-Bike. From there, we will go on an easy warm-up ride beside the ocean.
Escape the urban bustle and ride into the peaceful countryside. Take in the picturesque views of Liyu Lake before cruising along the iconic Old Highway 193, a scenic route that winds its way toward the coast. The day ends at a cozy bed and breakfast, making this ride a perfect blend of natural beauty and laid-back exploration.

Continue your coastal journey with stops at breathtaking viewpoints, inviting beaches, and the dramatic natural rock formations of Shitiping. Along the way, savor the local specialty—fresh flying fish, a regional favorite. After a full day of exploration, arrive in Fengbin and unwind at a cozy bed and breakfast, where a well-earned rest awaits.

Cycle from Fengbin over the coastal mountains into Taiwan’s East Rift Valley, following the Xiuguluan River toward the quiet village of Wanrong. Continue on to Butterfly Valley, known for its lush scenery, wildlife, and hot springs. Relax for the night at Fuyuan Resort, with scenic trails, waterfalls, and forested surroundings.

Ride south toward Wuhe and stop to sample tea at a traditional tea farm. Continue onward as you cross the Tropic of Cancer, then visit the historic Saoba Monoliths. Pedal along Highway 193 through the charming rural towns of Ruisui, Yuli, and Fuli before arriving in Chishang, famous for its sweeping rice fields and the iconic Brown Avenue.

Elevation gain: ~274 m
Cross back over the Coastal Mountains and descend toward Taiwan’s east coast, arriving in the laid-back surf town of Donghe. Enjoy freshly made baozi before spending the afternoon catching waves or relaxing on the beaches that host World Surf League competitions. Continue on to Jinzun to end the day by the ocean.

Venture south along the coast with a stop in the eclectic town of Dulan before continuing into Taitung City. After time to explore, ride on to Taimali, where you can experience local Indigenous culture and enjoy traditional dishes.

Today marks the grand finale of the journey as we ride to Shouka and begin the final leg through the stunning hills and beaches of the Hengchun Peninsula. One of Taiwan’s most scenic coastal routes, the road hugs the ocean and passes rugged shorelines, including Longpan Park and Cape Eluanbi. The final stretch leads to Taiwan’s southernmost point, before a short ride into Kenting, the island’s tropical paradise.

Today, we have the morning to explore the Kenting area before making our way to Zuoying Station in Kaohsiung, where you’ll catch your train back to Taipei or continue on to your next destination.
